Terms of Service

Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of SafeTelecom KosherOS devices and the subscription service that runs on them. By buying a device or starting a subscription, you agree to them.

What you are buying

There are two separate things. The phone is a one-time purchase and it is yours to keep. The KosherOS licence is a subscription that keeps the filtering and management service running on that phone. Cancelling the subscription does not take the phone away from you; it stops the service on it.

Subscription and automatic renewal

Your subscription renews automatically until you cancel. We charge the card you have on file, at the price and billing frequency you chose at checkout — monthly, yearly, or every two years.

There is no minimum term and no fixed-length contract. The subscription simply continues on your chosen cycle until it is cancelled.

The price you agreed to is the price we charge on each renewal. If we ever change it, we will tell you before the change takes effect. Taxes and regulatory fees may be added where they apply.

Cancelling

You can cancel online, from your account: go to Account → Subscriptions and choose Cancel license on the phone's plan. You can also email support@safetelecom.net and our team will handle it for you.

Cancellation removes access immediately and stops future renewal charges. Cancelling the core OS license removes core and add-on access on that phone; removing an add-on removes that add-on's access. Unused subscription time is not refunded or credited. This applies to monthly, yearly and two-year plans.

Changing your plan

Upgrading takes effect after successful payment of the prorated upgrade charge for the rest of the current period. Only upgrades are prorated.

Downgrading gives you the new plan's features straight away, and the lower price starts at your next billing date. There is no refund for the part of the period already paid at the higher price.

If a payment fails

Stripe retries failed payments. You can change your card in Billing. After retries are exhausted, an additional grace period applies before access is removed from the affected phone. Your account shows the grace deadline. Customer-requested cancellation removes access immediately and does not receive a grace period.

Content filtering

KosherOS restricts which apps and content are available on the device, according to the standard you select when you set up service. That standard is applied by your chosen auditor, and it can change over time as they update their guidance. Filtering is a best-effort service and we do not guarantee that it blocks everything you might want blocked.

Acceptable use

Do not use the service to break the law, to interfere with our systems or other customers, or to work around the filtering on a device that is managed for someone else. We may suspend service that is being used this way.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The effective date at the top of this page tells you which version is current, and material changes to your subscription terms will be communicated to you directly rather than only posted here.
